This app. keeps track of your location when the timer is set and when the map feature is being used. While using the timer, the app. continues to monitor your location, even when it is sent to the background. This is done to ensure that the correct walk back time is calculated as your location changes. The app. has been fine tuned to reduce battery usage, especially when it is used in the background; however, please note that:
